Job summary

Franklin Smith is seeking multiple experienced Welders across New Zealand for various welding and fabricating construction projects. You will work on pipe, structural steel erection, and related materials with a minimum of three years of full-time experience.

We offer opportunities across many NZ locations with relocation support as needed. The ideal candidate can pass a police check and drug test, and will work a minimum of 30 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.00–$35.00, on a permanent

Qualifications

• Experience in welding and fabrication from 3+ years of full-time work.
• Ability to cut, shape, and align metal components.
• Knowledge of bead width, penetration and weld quality checks.
• Proficient in finishing welds and smoothing rough edges.
• Commitment to safety and Franklin Smith policies.

Responsibilities

• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, heating and hammering.
• Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Examine welds for bead width, penetration and precision.
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
• Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling and grinding.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety policies and legislation.
• Other duties as required within capability.

Looking for multiple experienced Welders who have a good attitude towards work and great references. You will be completing various welding and fabricating construction related material, pipe, structural steel erection, etc. The successful candidate will have at least three years of relevant full-time work experience.

About you:

The ideal candidate must be able to:

• - Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• - Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
• - Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• - Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
• - Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
• - Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding
• - Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Franklin Smith policies and relevant legislation.
• - Other duties as reasonably required within the capability of the employee’s role may also be required from time to time.

About the role:

• - Minimum 30 hours of work per week
• - Hourly wage ranging from $30.00 - $35.00
• - Permanent role – Monday to Friday, with extra shifts available on weekends
• - We have opportunities across various locations in New Zealand. As part of your employment, you may be required to travel to a different region within New Zealand for different projects, including Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Marlborough, Waikato, Wellington, Otago, Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Northland, West Coast, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne, Southland.
• - You will be given reasonable notice if you are required to relocate to another region. Franklin Smith will cover transportation and accommodation expenses related to the relocation.
