Job summary

Franklin Smith is seeking multiple experienced Welders for various construction-related welding and fabricating tasks across New Zealand. A minimum of three years full-time welding experience is required, with the ability to travel for projects as needed.

The role offers an hourly wage of $30.00–$35.00 and permanent, Monday–Friday work with extra shifts on weekends. Relocation and travel between regions may be required, with Franklin Smith covering transport and accommodation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools and torches.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using tools and heating methods.
• Align parts for joining and inspect welds for bead width and penetration.
• Finish products by cleaning, polishing and grinding.

Looking for multiple experienced Welders who have a good attitude towards work and great references. You will be completing various welding and fabricating construction related material, pipe, structural steel erection, etc. The successful candidate will have at least three years of relevant full-time work experience.

About you:

The ideal candidate must be able to:

• - Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
• - Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
• - Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• - Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
• - Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
• - Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding
• - Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in compliance with Franklin Smith policies and relevant legislation.
• - Other duties as reasonably required within the capability of the employee’s role may also be required from time to time.

As part of your employment, you may be required to travel to a different region within New Zealand for different projects, including Auckland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Marlborough, Waikato, Wellington, Otago, Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Northland, West Coast, Bay of Plenty, Canterbury, Gisborne, Southland.
