Job summary

Qube Ports NZ in Tauranga is seeking a skilled Welder Engineer to perform fabrication, maintenance and repair on heavy off-road machinery, including loaders and terminal tractors. You will contribute to reliable port operations and equipment uptime.

The role requires NZQA Level 4 heavy fabrication trade qualifications, proven experience with heavy vehicles, and the ability to work independently or in a small team. Mon-Fri 7am–4pm; tools and PPE provided, with health insurance and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Fabrication or overseas equivalent.
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Able to work independently or as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding, fabrication, and repairs on heavy machinery and port equipment.
• Monitor and replace worn attachments and components.
• Provide technical input to improve component quality and longevity.
• Maintain a safe work environment and report incidents promptly.

About The Role

We're looking for a skilled Welder Engineer for our Tauranga port operation. In this hands-on role, you'll carry out fabrication, maintenance, and repair work on a wide range of heavy off-road machinery including loaders, material handlers, and terminal tractors.

Location: Tauranga Port

Status: Full-time, Mon-Fri working 7am to 4pm

Specific Responsibilities

• Carry out welding, fabrication, and repairs on heavy machinery and port equipment
• Monitor and replace worn attachments and components
• Provide technical input to improve component quality and longevity
• Maintain a safe work environment and report incidents promptly

Who we're after

• Relevant NZQA Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Fabrication [or overseas equivalent]
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
