Job summary

Tiaki Wai in Wellington is seeking a full-time Wastewater Operations Specialist to improve the performance and reliability of our wastewater treatment services. You will monitor plant performance, support asset renewals and capital investment, and work with our contractors and regulatory partners.

You’ll lead compliance reporting, manage risks, and foster collaborative relationships across internal teams to deliver safer, cleaner water for the community.

Qualifications

• Diploma in wastewater, chemical, process, environmental or asset management, or equivalent on-the-job learning.
• Experience overseeing and reporting on operations and maintenance of water or wastewater infrastructure.
• Strong relationship management skills with cross-team collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Ability to manage changing priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor treatment plant performance and elevate operational, environmental and asset risks.
• Oversee contractor performance and compliance with consent and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate asset renewals and smaller reactive projects, including capex and forecasting.
• Lead compliance reporting and investigations, responses to requests for clarification.
• Build strong relationships with contractors, regulators and internal teams to improve wastewater outcomes.
