Magnetic Recruitment – Napier City, North Island

We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to take ownership of our client's busy, multi-site warehouse operation in Napier. Operating within a highly technical manufacturing environment, this role requires a leader with proven experience across both manufacturing and export-focused supply chains, ensuring the efficient flow of materials, finished products and inventory from production through to customer delivery.

This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of an important operation, influence how the warehouse performs and lead improvements that deliver measurable results. You'll join an established technical manufacturing business where strong leadership, fresh thinking and operational excellence are valued.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead the safe and efficient receiving, storage, picking and dispatch of raw materials for the front-end manufacturing process, while improving systems, managing costs and developing a high-performance culture within the wider warehouse operations team.

You'll oversee daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on continuous improvement, inventory accuracy and delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers, whilst driving a continuous improvement focus, leaning on your leadership capability to drive overall improvement in the operation and systems. You'll also drive best practice use of modern warehouse management systems (WMS) and scanning technology to improve visibility, accuracy and overall operational performance, alongside company-wide ERP systems.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading all warehouse operations, including receipting, storage, picking and dispatch, while setting clear goals aligned with the wider business strategy
  • Using WMS and scanning systems to improve inventory accuracy, productivity, warehouse layout and material flow
  • Managing stock-control processes, including regular cycle counting, annual inventory audits, vendor-managed inventory, returns, recoveries, non-conforming materials, loans, scrapping and obsolescence
  • Identifying and implementing technology-enabled improvements that deliver measurable efficiencies
  • Driving Lean, 5S and continuous-improvement initiatives while leading change and embedding improved systems and ways of working
  • Planning and managing warehouse budgets, resources and operating costs
  • Maintaining MPI accreditation and Transitional Facility compliance, including requirements for imported goods and container devanning
  • Ensuring strong health, safety, environmental and quality standards across the operation
  • Leading, coaching, training and developing the warehouse team while building a positive, accountable and customer-focused culture
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience managing a warehouse or complex inventory operation, ideally within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience using WMS, scanning technology and SAP or a similar ERP system to improve accuracy, productivity and operational efficiency
  • Strong leadership and change-management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, train and develop teams while successfully embedding new systems and processes
  • Sound knowledge of broader warehouse operations, supported by experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices
  • Exposure to ISO standards implementation (for example, 9001; 14001)
  • Experience working within MPI requirements and maintaining Transitional Facility compliance
  • Strong numeracy, literacy and computer skills, together with a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, environmental and quality compliance
  • Knowledge of electronic components would be advantageous
  • A Forklift Operator Certificate and Transitional Facility Operator certification would be highly regarded
What's on Offer
  • A competitive remuneration package reflecting your skills and experience
  • The opportunity to take genuine ownership of a key warehouse operation
  • The ability to influence performance and deliver measurable improvements
  • A hands-on leadership role within an established technical environment
  • Scope to introduce fresh ideas and drive technology, Lean and continuous-improvement initiatives
  • The chance to develop a capable team and build a positive, accountable culture
  • A stable, Napier-based position with a respected organisation
