Job summary

Nationwide Book Distributors Ltd in Oxford, North Canterbury, is seeking a Warehouse Assistant to join our small team. This full-time role supports warehousing and distribution operations, helping move, store and ship books efficiently across our network.

You will pick and pack orders, check shipments, maintain inventory records, and help keep the warehouse clean and safe. Forklift cert is a plus, but not required. Training is provided to ensure accurate handling and excellent service.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry up to 20kg boxes regularly.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Reliability and commitment to punctuality.
• Willingness to follow health and safety protocols at all times.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Picking and packing orders accurately according to customer requirements.
• Receiving, checking and recording incoming book shipments.
• Organising and storing books in designated warehouse locations.
• Operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks (forklift with appropriate certification)
• Maintaining accurate inventory records and assisting with stock counts and audits.
• Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and organised to maintain health and safety standards.
• Assisting with general warehouse duties and customer enquiries as required to support the team.

About the role

This is a full‑time position that plays a vital role in our warehousing and distribution operations. As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient movement, storage and distribution of books throughout our network. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to deliver quality service to our customers and maintain the smooth operation of our warehouse facilities.
