Job summary

Squash Waikato in Hamilton is seeking a General Manager (Fixed-Term Maternity Cover) to lead the region, enhance participation and performance, and provide a professional, friendly service to members, clubs and players across the Waikato.

This role focuses on stakeholder engagement, strategic plan development, financial management and overseeing staff and events to support squash growth locally.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years involvement in the sporting sector.
• Understanding and background in the sport of squash.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of call for squash matters within the district and respond to email and phone queries, or refer onwards as appropriate.
• Manage the Squash Waikato online profile including website and social media.
• Prepare the annual calendar for Waikato Clubs and players in collaboration with Squash NZ.
• Prepare regular communications including annual report, monthly district emails, and regular district administrator emails.
• Lead the establishment of, maintain and strengthen relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Squash Clubs, Squash NZ, Sport Waikato, Schools, Funding bodies, Media and Local Authorities.
• Manage the contract of SW Admin Assistant and Squash Development Officer.
• Oversee the annual competition schedule.
• Coordinate trophies, awards, and ceremonies for regional events.
• Strategically support and lead the development of squash in the Waikato through Strategic Plan development and implementation.
• Manage the day-to-day financial requirements of Squash Waikato including budget preparation, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.
