Job summary

Yealands in Marlborough, NZ is seeking a practical Vineyard Workshop Mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of vineyard machinery. You’ll work from our Seddon workshop, with transport provided, and help keep equipment running safely during harvest and pruning.

This hands-on role rewards problem-solvers who can work independently, while contributing to a supportive, local team. Trade qualifications in heavy automotive or diesel mechanics are preferred, and experience with vineyard gear is

Responsibilities

About the role

As a Vineyard Workshop Mechanic you’ll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a wide range of vineyard machinery and equipment. Your work ensures everything is running safely, efficiently, and ready to perform during key seasonal periods like harvest and pruning.

This is a hands‑on role where your practical skills and problem‑solving ability will be put to good use every day, working from our Seddon workshop (we provide transport to and from Seddon).

What you’ll be doing

• Diagnosing faults and repairing tractors and vineyard machinery
• Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Maintaining engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems
• Supporting vineyard operations by ensuring machinery is ready when needed
• Assisting with setup and calibration of vineyard implements
• Modifying or fabricating equipment to improve efficiency
• Keeping the workshop clean, organised, and safe
• Managing tools, parts, and maintenance records

What we’re looking for someone:

• Mechanically minded and hands‑on
• Ideally experienced with agricultural or vineyard machinery
• Strong problem solver who can work independently
• Reliable and adaptable, especially during busy seasonal periods
• A great team player with good communication skills

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• A trade qualification in Heavy Automotive Engineering, Diesel Mechanics or similar
