Job summary

247 Workshop Limited in Mangere, Auckland, is hiring two full-time Vehicle Painters to join our busy workshop.

Ideal candidates must have 2 years relevant experience or NZ Level 4 in automotive refinishing/vehicle spray painting, with a good eye for colour matching and finish. You must be able to work weekends and overtime, flexible to early-morning and late-night shifts, while maintaining safety and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years relevant experience or a NZ Level 4 qualification in automotive refinishing / vehicle spray painting.
• A good eye for colour matching and a high standard of finish
• Must be able to work on weekends and work overtime
• Must be flexible to work early-morning and late-night shifts
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy workshop
• Strong commitment to safe work practices, including correct use of PPE and spray booth procedures
• Be hard-working, reliable and motivated
• Can work well and efficiently both unsupervised and within a team
• Physically fit for the demands of the role

Responsibilities

• Preparing vehicle surfaces for painting - sanding, filling, masking, cleaning and applying primer and undercoat
• Removing rust, old paint and surface imperfections, and treating surfaces with rust-proofing where required
• Mixing and matching paint colours to match each vehicle's finish
• Applying primer, base coat and clear coat using spray guns in a spray booth
• Blending and feathering paint into adjacent panels for a seamless finish
• Sanding between coats, then wet-sanding, buffing and polishing to a final finish
• Inspecting finished paintwork for defects such as runs, orange peel or colour variation, and correcting them
• Detailing and polishing completed vehicles
• Maintaining spray guns, mixing equipment and the spray booth in clean, safe working order
• Complying with all company and government health and safety guidelines
• Any other tasks that are reasonably requested by the employer from time to time
