Job summary

Northpower is seeking an experienced Cable Jointer for its Contracting division. The hands-on role installs, maintains and repairs underground electrical distribution networks up to 33kV across multiple sites.

You will join a skilled team delivering essential infrastructure with safety and quality at the forefront. We require NZ Electrical Registration with a current practising licence and a full NZ Class 2 Driver Licence.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) and current practising licence.
• Full Class 2 NZ Driver Licence.
• Minimum two years post-qualification cable jointing experience.
• Experience on underground distribution networks (400V, 11kV & 22kV).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
• Proactive, safety-focused mindset.
• Good communication and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Installing, replacing, and repairing underground electrical distribution assets.
• Carrying out cable jointing and terminations up to 33kV.
• Operating electrical equipment and assisting with excavation and site reinstatement.
• Diagnosing faults and solving technical issues in the field.
• Maintaining tools, equipment, and PPE to a high standard.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to industry standards.
• Building strong relationships with customers, clients, and team members.
• Participating in the after-hours standby roster.
