Job summary

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Wellington seeks a part-time Treaty Support Officer who will assist the Legal Division with international treaty making and mutual legal assistance. The Treaty Support Officer works in close collaboration with the Treaty Officer and others in the General International Law team and covers a wide range of international law issues.

Ideal candidates are self-motivated law students with strong writing and communication skills, able to balance multiple

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Treaty Officer in international treaty-making.
  • Assist with publication of treaties in the NZ Treaty Series and House presentations.
  • Conduct general legal research and provide assistance to Legal Division members.
  • Support case management and updates with relevant legal officers.
  • Receive/transmit documents from overseas posts and local missions, prepare letters.
