Job summary

Accident Compensation Corporation in Wellington seeks a Recovery Partner - Mental Injury (Level 1) to work with clients who have complex mental injuries, including trauma. You will coordinate recovery across whānau, providers, and agencies, supporting clients through challenging journeys with sound decisions and empathy.

The role requires resilience, excellent communication, and the ability to handle distressing stories while maintaining professional boundaries and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health, disability, rehabilitation or social services working with complex needs.
• High levels of resilience - manage emotionally demanding work.
• Ability to build trust with clients in vulnerable or distressed situations.
• Strong decision-making in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication, including difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recovery support across whānau, providers and agencies.
• Work directly with clients requiring intensive support after complex mental injuries.
• Maintain professional boundaries and personal wellbeing in challenging cases.
• Contribute to a team focused on safe, equitable service delivery.
• Support clients through sensitive recovery journeys in a fast-paced setting.
