Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern seeks a motivated health professional to train as a Cardiac Sonographer within the Radiology Service at Whanganui Hospital. You will train while performing cardiac ultrasound examinations, under postgraduate study in cardiac echocardiography.

Working with experienced sonographers and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop skills to deliver high-quality imaging and triage referrals, contributing to patient care across the Whanganui region.

Qualifications

  • To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in health.
  • Eligibility and willingness to undertake postgraduate study in Cardiac Echocardiography.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of cardiac ultrasound service delivery.
  • Learn to perform accurate and timely echocardiography examinations.
  • Support the triaging and prioritisation of referrals.
  • Contribute to high standards of patient care and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with cardiology, radiology and wider clinical teams.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated health professional to train as a Cardiac Sonographer within our Radiology Service at Whanganui Hospital.

Working alongside experienced sonographers and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to perform high-quality cardiac ultrasound examinations while undertaking postgraduate training in cardiac echocardiography.

As a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer, you will:

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health
  • Current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate (where applicable).
  • Eligibility and willingness to undertake postgraduate study in Cardiac Echocardiography.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • A commitment to equity, cultural safety and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Must have NZ Citizenship or Residency
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A demonstrated interest in cardiac diagnostics or medical imaging.
