Job summary

Green by Nature in Hastings seeks an apprentice Groundsperson to help maintain the playing fields for various sports. You will perform mowing, rolling, fertilising, irrigation setup, weed eating, line marking, spraying and assist with covers as required.

We value a genuine passion for sports turf, the ability to work autonomously, and a clean NZ driver’s licence with manual transmission. Level 3/4 Sports Turf qualifications are welcomed if not already held.

Qualifications

• Must have a strong passion for sports turf grounds.
• Able to work autonomously with limited supervision.
• Willing to pursue Level 3 and 4 Sports Turf qualifications if not held.
• A full, clean NZ driver’s licence with manual transmission is essential.

Responsibilities

• Mow and roll playing surfaces to maintain high-quality turf.
• Fertilising, irrigation setup, weed eating, spraying as required.
• Line marking and preparing pitches for use.
• Assist with turf covers and related tasks as needed.

Job description

As part of our commitment to upkeeping the grounds, we are looking for an apprentice level Groundsperson to join our team.

Hastings boasts stunning grounds that frequently host a range of different sports! This includes but is not limited to Cricket pitches, line marking, sports turf renovations.

About the role

As the Groundsperson, you will be responsible for a range of tasks to ensure the high-quality condition of the playing grounds. Your daily duties will include mowing, rolling, fertilising, irrigation setup, weed eating, line marking, spraying, and providing assistance with the covers as needed.

• Here's what you will need to be successful:
• A strong knowledge and passion for sports turf grounds!
• Someone who is motivated and self-driven with the ability to work autonomously
• Ideally experience in preparation and maintenance of sports playing turf or be willing to do Level 3 and 4 Sports Turf qualification
• A full, clean NZ driver's licence with the ability to drive a manual is essential

Hours: Monday to Friday 7am – 3.30pm and during Cricket camp in January, this turns into a split day to allow for evening work on the cricket pitches.
