Job summary

Alpine Energy in Timaru is seeking a Traffic Management Planner & Coordinator to support safe, compliant, and efficient work delivery across the network. You will develop TMPs, coordinate CARs, and liaise with councils and contractors to keep maintenance, capital works, and fault response on track.

The role requires TTMP/STMS qualifications or equivalent experience, strong communication, and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

  • Practising TTMP and/or Practising STMS qualifications or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of temporary traffic management principles, legislation, and New Zealand industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, high attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and preparing TMPs, CARs, and supporting documentation per NZGTTM and RCA standards.
  • Coordinating approvals, permits, and traffic management activities to support delivery schedules.
  • Building relationships with Councils, authorities, contractors, and internal teams for safe outcomes.

The role

Join Alpine in this newly created role as a Traffic Management Planner & Coordinator. You'll play a key role in supporting the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of work across our network. From developing Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and coordinating approvals to working with councils, contractors, and internal teams, your work will help ensure our maintenance, capital works, and fault response programmes can be delivered safely and on time.

As our TM Planner and Coordinator for our Works Delivery team, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and preparing site-specific Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), Corridor Access Requests (CARs), and supporting documentation in line with NZGTTM requirements and Road Controlling Authority standards.
  • Coordinating approvals, permits, and traffic management activities through our systems, while managing workflow priorities to support operational and project delivery schedules.
  • Building strong relationships with Councils, Road Controlling Authorities, Contractors, and internal stakeholders while providing technical guidance, supporting continuous improvement, and helping deliver safe, compliant, and effective traffic management outcomes.

What you’ll need

  • Practising TTMP and/or Practising STMS qualifications or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of temporary traffic management principles, legislation, and New Zealand industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,high attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant planning systems
  • Experience within utilities, infrastructure, roading, or traffic management environments, including familiarity with RCA approval processes and planning systems
