Job summary

Ventia is hiring a Class 2 Truck Driver and Traffic Controller in Wellington. You will help ensure safe movement of road users and workers, combining driving, traffic management, and site-based tasks across diverse projects.

The role requires holding a NZ Class 2 licence and a Traffic Management or Traffic Control qualification, plus experience in road or civil works. You’ll work outdoors, support emergencies, and contribute to a collaborative, safety-driven team.

Qualifications

• Full NZ Class 2 Driver Licence.

• Experience in road maintenance, civil construction, transport or traffic management.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate Class 2 vehicles and support traffic management activities.
• Install, maintain and remove temporary traffic management systems.
• Manage traffic flow and ensure public and crew safety.
• Complete site set-up and pack-down activities.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.
• Support emergency response and call-out work when required.
• Collaborate with the wider crew to ensure safe, efficient operations.

About the role

As a Class 2 Truck Driver andTraffic Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe movement of road users and workers across a range of transport and maintenance projects. No two days are the same, with responsibilities spanning traffic management, truck operation, site set-up, labouring duties and traffic control activities

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating Class 2 vehicles and supporting traffic management activities
• Installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management systems
• Managing traffic flow and ensuring public and crew safety
• Completing site set-up and pack-down activities
• Conducting routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
