Job summary

ANZ is seeking a Rates Trader to lead pricing, risk management and profitability across a broad suite of rates and fixed income products. You will partner with local and global trading teams, sales, risk and institutional banking colleagues to execute trading strategies and manage risk.

The role requires strong analytical skills, market experience and the ability to develop profitable strategies while maintaining robust risk controls in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial markets, treasury or trading environments is desirable.

Job description

As a Rates Trader in ANZ's Institutional Trading team, you'll play a key role in leading the pricing, risk management and profitability of ANZ's rates and fixed income trading portfolio. Working across a broad range of products including interest rate swaps, government and corporate bonds, credit products, futures and options, you'll help drive trading performance while delivering competitive outcomes for our customers and stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with local and global trading teams, sales, risk and institutional banking colleagues to execute trading strategies, manage risk and contribute to the ongoing success of ANZ's Markets business. The Rates Trading positions are a key role within ANZ's Markets business, helping drive trading performance, support customer outcomes and contribute to the success of our rates franchise. Some of your day-to-day activities may include:

  • Actively price, manage and trade a portfolio of rates and fixed income products, including interest rate swaps, government bonds, corporate bonds & credit products hedging all products with related derivatives and futures.
  • Develop and implement profitable trading strategies while ensuring portfolios remain within approved risk appetite and governance frameworks.
  • Partner closely with Institutional sales teams to deliver competitive pricing solutions and identify opportunities to grow customer business.
  • Collaborate with global trading teams, book runners and internal stakeholders to manage risk, optimise portfolio performance and support broader business objectives.
  • Develop and utilise quantitative and analytical models to improve decision-making, market analysis and trading efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, trading mandates, conduct standards and operational processes, while maintaining the integrity of trading systems and workflows.

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Experience in financial markets, treasury or trading environments, with exposure to rates, fixed income or credit products being highly regarded.
  • A solid understanding of financial products and risk management principles, along with a genuine interest in financial markets and their impact on customers and businesses.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess market conditions and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well-developed communication and relationship-building skills, enabling you to work effectively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders across the business.
  • Resilience, adaptability and sound judgement, with the ability to remain focused and perform effectively in changing market conditions.
  • A commitment to strong risk, compliance and conduct practices, together with behaviours that reflect ANZ's values and customer-focused culture.
