Job summary

PwC New Zealand is seeking a Senior Associate/Manager to advise clients on customs, international trade and import GST, supporting reviews and rulings with NZ Customs. You will analyse data to identify risks and duty-saving opportunities while coordinating with PwC specialists.

The role offers direct client exposure, opportunities to build deep trade expertise, and cross-border collaboration with PwC teams in New Zealand and overseas.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Around 2–4 years’ relevant experience in customs, international trade, tax, law, consulting, industry or government.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercial judgement and attention to detail.
  • An interest in international trade, supply chains and how businesses operate across borders.
  • Confidence working with clients and managing competing priorities.
  • Interest in developing deep Customs & Trade expertise and taking ownership of client relationships and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on a broad range of customs, international trade and import GST matters.
  • Support Customs reviews, rulings, voluntary disclosures and interactions with New Zealand Customs.
  • Analyse Customs and transactional data to identify compliance risks and duty-saving opportunities.
  • Advise on customs valuation, related-party pricing and transfer pricing adjustments, coordinating with PwC’s transfer pricing specialists.
  • Help clients access preferential tariffs and other forms of duty relief.
  • Manage workstreams and contribute to client relationships, proposals and business development.
  • Collaborate with PwC teams in New Zealand and overseas on cross-border projects.
