Job description

Kia ora, Do more than take the next step. Take the next leap. Explore careers at PwC NewZealand. At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems. This is a place to keep growing. You’ll learn from the best, take on meaningful challenges, and make a lasting impact for our clients, our communities, and Aotearoa.

About the role

PwC New Zealand’s Customs & Trade team helps businesses manage the tax, regulatory and commercial issues involved in moving goods across borders. As a Senior Associate / Manager in our Customs & Trade team, you’ll advise NewZealand and multinational clients across three core areas: customs advisory and compliance, including customs valuation, tariff classification and broader customs obligations; trade and market access, including Free Trade Agreements, rules of origin and wider trade issues; and indirect taxes on goods, including import GST and excise. This is a varied role with direct client exposure and the opportunity to build specialist expertise in a growing area, while working with PwC teams in NewZealand and overseas on cross-border projects.

Your day-to-day could include:
  • Advise clients on a broad range of customs, international trade and import GST matters.
  • Support Customs reviews, rulings, voluntary disclosures and other interactions with NewZealand Customs.
  • Analyse Customs and transactional data to identify compliance risks and duty-saving opportunities.
  • Advise on customs valuation, related-party pricing and transfer pricing adjustments, working closely with PwC’s transfer pricing specialists on integrated matters.
  • Help clients access preferential tariffs and other forms of duty relief.
  • Support clients with supply chain changes and emerging international trade issues.
  • Manage workstreams and contribute to client relationships, proposals and business development.
  • Collaborate with PwC teams in NewZealand and overseas on cross-border projects.
