Job summary

PwC New Zealand in Christchurch invites a Director to lead complex tax advisory engagements for major clients, including M&A, restructuring, and financing decisions. You will advise senior executives, grow relationships, and work across PwC's national and international tax network to deliver practical outcomes.

You will shape the team through coaching, drive growth in the Christchurch practice, and contribute to broader tax advisory capabilities across the firm.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in corporate tax advisory, ideally including transactions and other complex tax matters.
  • Strong technical tax capability with judgement to apply rules to commercial situations.
  • Proven experience leading significant client engagements and building trusted relationships.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, collaborative and tech-aware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex tax advisory engagements for large and sophisticated clients.
  • Lead Tax M&A and transaction work, including due diligence and structuring.
  • Become a trusted adviser to senior executives across PwC NZ and our network.
  • Grow client relationships and identify opportunities, collaborating with Deals, Legal and other teams.
  • Lead, coach and develop team members to sustain a high-performing Tax practice.
