MBIE is seeking a Policy Advisor in the Tourism Stewardship and Systems space. The role focuses on advising on sustainable tourism funding, infrastructure, and policy interventions to support growth and regional development in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The position offers a fixed-term secondment to October 2027, based in Wellington CBD, with a salary range of $75,114 – $93,724 plus Kiwisaver. You will work across government and with industry stakeholders to inform decisions and deliver impactful

Qualifications

• We welcome applicants with experience in policy, strategy, advisory, economics, consulting, regulation, planning or other analytical roles where you've worked through complex problems and influenced decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑level policy advice on tourism policy challenges, including sustainable funding and infrastructure.
• Contribute to Ministerial advice and cross‑government coordination on tourism system investments and policy interventions.
• Engage with stakeholders from government and industry to inform decisions and deliver policy solutions.
