Job summary

Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is seeking a Policy Advisor in Wellington to help shape New Zealand’s tourism policy and growth strategy. You will provide informed advice on high-profile issues and support Ministerial guidance across government.

The role offers a fixed-term secondment to October 2027 and is based in the Wellington CBD. You will collaborate with government and industry stakeholders to drive sustainable outcomes, investment, and infrastructure initiatives,

Qualifications

• Experience in policy, strategy, advisory, economics, consulting, regulation, planning or similar analytical roles.
• Ability to analyse complex issues and develop clear, practical recommendations.
• Ability to collaborate across government and with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advise on significant tourism policy challenges and funding.
• Contribute to Ministerial advice and cross-government policy work.
• Engage with stakeholders across New Zealand’s tourism system to inform decisions.
• Support investment, infrastructure and long-term tourism outcomes.
