Ngāti Porou Hauora seeks a Tipu Hou Mataora/Clinician in Training to support rangatahi and whānau wellbeing through culturally grounded programmes. You will deliver evidence-based care, advocate for Mātauranga Māori healing practices, and collaborate with whanau and NZ Corrections to create relapse prevention and recovery pathways.

The role emphasises clinical assessment, compassionate advocacy, and development of rangatahi capabilities, with opportunities for professional growth within a Te Ao

• Engage with whanau to understand unique needs and provide whanau-led support.
• Conduct comprehensive AOD assessments and care plans, including relapse prevention & recovery pathways.
• Maintain relationships in collaboration with the NZ Corrections Service.

Tipu Hou - Mataora/Clinician in Training

About the role:

Tipu Hou are seeking a person who has the ability to support the wellbeing, resilience and development of rangatahi and whānau through the delivery of culturally grounded, community-based programmes aligned to the Tipu Hou kaupapa.

The role supports whanau returning from Correctional Services Continuing Care support with Addictions wellbeing challenges and contributes to prevention and minimising early intervention and strengthening of whānau capability, using Clinical assessment & management and Mātauranga Māori

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical guidance & support with the Tipu Hou Mataora team, ensuring the delivery of evidence based & culturally competent care.
• Advocate for the integration of Mātauranga Māori healing practices in service delivery.
• Foster a supportive environment for whanau accessing Tipu Hou services to plan, grow and develop addiction recovery strategies & skills.
• Engage with whānau to understand their unique needs and provide whanau led support with whanau accessing Tipu Hou services.
• Conduct comprehensive AOD assessments and care plans, including relapse prevention & recovery pathways with whanau accessing Tipu Hou Services.
• Maintain relationships in collaboration with the NZ Corrections Service

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current or working towards DAPAANZ (Addiction Practitioners' Association Aotearoa New Zealand) Registration
• Proficiency in Mātauranga Māori healing practices or a strong willingness to learn and engage in active wānanga.
• Astute clinical assessment, analysis &planning preferably in addictions
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
• Commitment to cultural competence and sensitivity in all interactions.
