Job summary

Tumu Timbers Ltd. in Hastings is seeking experienced Timber Machinists to join our team. You will set, operate and maintain planers, band saws and other timber machinery to cut, gauge, shape and grade timber, and assist in producing bins and pallets.

Shifts include days and nights, with a guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week. Ideal candidates have at least three years’ experience in timber/wood machining or machine operation, are physically fit, safety-conscious and punctual, and can communicate

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' experience as Timber/Wood Machinist or Machine Operator.
• Ability to work day or night shifts and physically fit for manual handling.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and safe performance in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent punctuality and attendance; good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain planers, band saws and other timber machinery.
• Assist production of bins and pallets and ensure timber is cut, gauged, shaped and graded.
• Maintain safety and quality in a fast-paced wood processing environment.

Due to continued expansion and production workload,we are seeking experienced Timber Machinists to join our team. The rolesinclude assisting with the production of bins and pallets by setting,operating, and maintaining planers, band saws and other machinery to cut, gauge,shape and grade timber.

Tumu Timbers Ltd is alocally owned and operated timber processing business based at Longlands,Hastings. Our hours of work are Mondayto Friday, 50 hours per week working either day or night shift. Indicative shift times are as follows:

Dayshift: 5:00am - 3:30pm

Nightshift: 3:30pm - 2:30am

You will be guaranteed a minimum of thirty hours of work per week.

To be considered you will needto have a minimum of three years' experience as a Timber / Wood Machinist orMachine Operator within a manufacturing or wood processing environment, sawmill,or similar.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are willing to work day or nightshifts
• Are resilient, self-motivated with a 'can do' attitude
• Are physically fit - manual handlingwill be required
• Show good mechanical aptitude
• Can work safely within a fast-paced environment
• Have a track record of excellent punctuality and attendance
• Are motivated with good communication skills.

An indicative pay range for theseroles is $26.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.
