Job summary

TUMU Timbers is seeking an experienced Timber Machinist to join our Hastings team. The role involves setting, operating and maintaining planers, band saws and other machinery to cut, gauge, shape and grade timber, with focus on producing bins and pallets.

We offer 50 hours per week with a choice of day or night shifts. A minimum of three years’ timber/wood machining experience is required; applicants must be physically fit, reliable and safety‑minded in a fast-paced workplace.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Timber/Wood Machinist or Machine Operator in a manufacturing or wood processing environment.
• Willingness to work day or night shifts and physically fit for manual handling.
• Demonstrates good mechanical aptitude and safe work practices in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Set, operate and maintain planers, band saws and other machinery to cut, gauge, shape and grade timber.
• Assist with production of bins and pallets.

Timber Machinist

Due to continued expansion and production workload,we are seeking experienced Timber Machinists to join our team. The rolesinclude assisting with the production of bins and pallets by setting,operating, and maintaining planers, band saws and other machinery to cut, gauge,shape and grade timber.

Tumu Timbers Ltd is alocally owned and operated timber processing business based at Longlands,Hastings. Our hours of work are Mondayto Friday, 50 hours per week working either day or night shift. Indicative shift times are as follows:

Dayshift: 5:00am– 3:30pm

Nightshift: 3:30pm– 2:30am

You will be guaranteed a minimum of thirty hours of work per week.

To be considered you will needto have a minimum of three years’ experience as a Timber / Wood Machinist orMachine Operator within a manufacturing or wood processing environment, sawmill,or similar.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are willing to work day or nightshifts
• Are resilient, self-motivated with a‘can do’ attitude
• Are physically fit - manual handlingwill be required
• Show good mechanical aptitude
• Can work safely within a fast-paced environment
• Have a track record of excellent punctuality and attendance
• Are motivated with good communication skills.

An indicative pay range for theseroles is $26.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience.
