Job summary

Tumu Timbers Ltd in Hastings, Hawke's Bay, is seeking Timber Graders for full-time permanent roles to grade timber and operate our Bin sorter. These hands-on positions require teamwork, operating machinery to meet production targets, and maintaining quality outputs.

Candidates should have experience in structural and/or appearance grading and machine operation, be health and safety focused, reliable, and enjoy physical work with occasional manual handling.

Qualifications

• Proven reliability and attendance at work.
• Experience in timber grading to NZS3631:1988; L3 in Timber grading is an advantage.
• Experience operating timber-processing machinery.
• Health and safety focused.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Able to perform physical work including manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Grade timber and operate the Bin sorter to meet production targets.
• Work as part of a team to maintain quality outputs.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in training and continuous improvement.

Timber Grader

• Full TimePermanent Positions

We are seeking candidates to grade timber and assist withoperating our newly installed Bin sorter.These hands-on roles will require you to work within a team, operatemachinery to achieve production targets, and maintain quality outputs. You willhave experience in structural and/or appearance grading and machine operation.

Tumu Timbers Ltd is a progressive Hawkes Bay wood processingbusiness, locally owned and operated. Our team culture is positive andenthusiastic with an emphasis on Health and Safety, Quality and CustomerService. We are based in Longlands,Hastings.

Both dayshift and nightshift positions are available:

Dayshift: 5.00am – 3.30pm,Monday to Friday – 50 hours per week

Nightshift: 3.30pm - 2.30am, Monday to Thursday and 3.30pm– 12.00am on Friday - 50 hours per week.

To be successful in thisrole you will need:

• A proven record of reliability and attendance at work
• To be mechanically minded and experienced in timber grading and machineoperation
• Proven experience in grading timber to the standard NZS3631:1988 , an advantage would be to have achieved L3 in Timber grading andoptimising.
• To be health and safety focused
• To enjoy working in a team and have good communication skills
• To enjoy physical work as some manual handling is involved
