Job summary

Stats NZ in Christchurch is seeking a dynamic Test Lead to join our project team on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027. Based in our Christchurch office, you will lead testing for our data platform delivery and work with testers and project managers to ensure high-quality product releases.

Bring 5+ years in software testing, with at least 2 years in a lead role, and strong knowledge of testing methodologies and tools such as Python, Scala and Selenium.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of software testing experience, with at least 2 years in a lead role in large ICT environments.
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Python, Scala, Selenium).
• Experience automating integration and regression tests.
• Familiarity with data management and data platform testing in projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies and plans.
• Lead and mentor a team of testers, fostering quality culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure test coverage and timely delivery.
• Learn Stats NZ domain knowledge and related business processes.
• Identify, track and manage defects using appropriate tools.
• Conduct test reviews ensuring adherence to quality standards.
