Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a motivated Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our remote team serving the Queenstown region. You will deploy, maintain, and repair telecom equipment in the field, with support from our remote engineering and support network.

This hands-on role requires independent work, strong problem solving, and a focus on safety. You’ll work with fiber, copper, and wireless systems, using OTDRs and spectrum analyzers, and document all test results and service reports.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Field Engineer or in a similar technical role.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications systems, including data, voice, and video technologies.
• Proficiency with installation tools, testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, spectrum analyzers), and diagnostic software.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a service territory effectively.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic, copper, and wireless systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting service quality and availability.
