Job summary

The Ministry of Justice – New Zealand is seeking a Technical Product Lead to define product development processes and implement best practices aligned with the Digital Strategic Plan. Based in Wellington, you will own the Collaboration & Productivity Services portfolio and guide delivery across the end-to-end lifecycle.

You will work with Microsoft Power Platform experts, lead technically, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive agile delivery while balancing security and enterprise

Qualifications

• Solid technical leadership and hands-on experience delivering end-to-end services.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform and cloud platforms (PowerApps, Dynamics 365, Power Automate).
• Ability to design information systems aligned with business needs and enterprise architectures.
• Experience in product or service support, vendor liaison, and incident management is advantageous.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across diverse audiences; understanding of tikanga Māori is beneficial.

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Technical Product Lead (TPL) and play a key role in shaping the future of modern, impactful digital services. We are on the lookout for a professional with technical expertise in Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Dynamics365, and Power Automate), to provide insightful advice and guidance on various technical services.

This is a permanent full-time position located within the Ministry of Justice National Office in Wellington.

This position is suitable for an experienced software developer of varied skill sets who can combine technical and administrative experiences into motivating and inspiring themselves and other team members. The applicant must be able to work under broad direction that may often be self-initiated. You will be responsible for meeting allocated technical and/or project/supervisory objectives, establishing milestones and assignment of tasks and/or responsibilities within the Productivity & Collaboration team.

The successful person will report directly to the Manager- Productivity & Collaboration Services.

To be successful in the role, you will have the following:

• Solid technical leadership skills backed by hands‑on experience that achieve desired technical outcomes across the end‑to‑end service delivery life cycle.
• Experience with cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform (PowerApps, Dynamics365, Power Automate, Power Pages)
• Experience with service delivery life cycle across:
• Programming/software development. The design, creation, testing and documenting of new and amended technical components from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed development and security standards and processes.
• Systems design. To be able to provide specification and design of information systems to meet defined business needs. The identification of concepts and their translation into implementable design. The retention of compatibility of systems with enterprise and solution architectures, and the adherence to corporate standards within constraints of cost, security and maintainability.
• Experience in product or service support such as by providing advice or training to users as well as working with vendors and incident management teams to resolve technical issues would be beneficial.
• Ability to build and maintain a range of effective business relationships within the organisation and a wide network of professional relationships across several partners and vendors.
• Collaboration and communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues.
• Have an understanding and appreciation of Tikanga Māori.
• Solid understanding of Agile and Development methodologies would be advantageous.

Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $118,904 and $163,344 based on skills and experience.
