Job summary

Talent International – Wellington, North Island is seeking a senior Technical Lead for Wastewater and Stormwater to provide expert technical leadership within Water New Zealand. This permanent role focuses on shaping regulatory and technical guidance in a collaborative, high-impact team.

Working closely with the CEO and a small team, you will coordinate SIGs, translate complex information into practical resources, and drive initiatives that add value for Water New Zealand members across Aotearoa.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in engineering or environmental science with proven technical competence in wastewater and stormwater.
• Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
• Strong relationship-building, facilitation and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Proactive, self-starting approach with initiative to identify opportunities and act on them.

Responsibilities

• Provide informed and practical advice to the CE, members and stakeholders.
• Identify emerging technical issues and opportunities, turning them into guidance, training and initiatives.
• Lead the Wastewater and Stormwater SIGs to deliver tangible outputs.
• Project manage development and publication of technical guidelines and resources.
• Support advocacy and regulatory engagement with technical expertise for submissions and policy discussions.
• Build trusted relationships across the sector with members, providers, government and regulators.
