Job summary

Water New Zealand seeks a senior Technical Lead for Wastewater and Stormwater to provide expert guidance and leadership across the sector. The role focuses on regulatory awareness, practical advice, and proactive initiative within a small, high-performing team.

You will collaborate with the CEO and technical team, guiding SIGs, developing guidelines, and supporting advocacy efforts. Wellington office preferred, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and sector impact.

Qualifications

• Strong technical leadership in wastewater and stormwater.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks and environmental outcomes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse audiences.
• Proactive approach to identifying opportunities and delivering guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide informed technical advice to the CEO, members and stakeholders.
• Lead coordination of Wastewater and Stormwater SIGs and deliverables.
• Project manage development of technical guidelines and good-practice resources.
• Support advocacy and regulatory engagement with technical input for submissions.
• Build trusted relationships across sector, government, regulators and providers.
• Contribute expertise to special projects, webinars, events and conferences.
