Job summary

Rush Digital, an integrated design and technology studio in New Zealand, seeks a Lead Full Stack Engineer who is a hands-on expert and a mentor for the team. You will tackle thorny technical challenges across .NET Core, Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

You will drive architecture, design, and delivery in cloud environments (AWS/Azure), with IaC using Terraform, and modern testing through xUnit, Vitest, and Playwright.

Qualifications

• Significant experience with .NET Core (C#), Node.js, and modern frontend frameworks.
• Cloud environments (AWS/Azure), Docker, and CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Strong prioritisation and decision-making skills balancing delivery with technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction across stack and mentor engineers.
• Design moderately complex systems with high standards for quality and security.
• Develop high-performance, responsive frontend interfaces with React/React Native/Flutter.
• Build reliable backend services using .NET Core or Node.js.
• Support deployments and monitoring on AWS or Azure, plus IaC with Terraform.
• Communicate trade-offs and progress with product owners and clients.

At RUSH, we are an integrated design and technology studio. We are united by our love of technology and its potential for making lives better. We are looking for a Lead Full Stack Engineer who is a hands-on technical expert, a mentor to others, and a deep-diver into thorny technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Excellence & Execution

• Technical Leadership: Serve as an expert across multiple technical areas, resolving complex problems and guiding intermediate and junior engineers through them.
• System Design: Design the detail for moderately complex systems, ensuring high standards for quality, performance, security, and reliability.
• Frontend Mastery: Implementation of high-performance, responsive interfaces across web and mobile, ensuring seamless user experiences using React, React Native, or Flutter.
• Full Stack Development: Build reliable backend services (using .NET Core or Node.js) and intuitive, responsive user interfaces.
• Quality & Testing: Advocate for and maintain rigorous testing standards using tools like xUnit, Vitest, and Playwright to improve coverage across the stack.
• DevOps & Infrastructure: Support deployments and monitoring on AWS or Azure, contributing to Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Kubernetes.
  
• Delivery Support: Help the team translate solution designs and requirements into granular tasks and epics.
• Risk Mitigation: Identify technical risks to delivery and develop remediation plans to keep work on track.
• Collaborative Mentoring: Coach and mentor engineers through code reviews and technical guidance, fostering a learning-oriented culture.
• Stakeholder Bridge: Communicate clearly with product owners and client stakeholders about technical trade-offs and progress.
