Job summary

Mitre 10 Wellington Central is seeking two customer-focused Team Members to join the Power Tools & Hardware department. You will help customers find products, provide friendly advice, and ensure the department is well presented and stocked.

Flexibility to support other areas of the store is required. You’ll contribute to delivering exceptional service, maintain health and safety standards, and participate in training to grow product knowledge across store ranges.

Qualifications

• Previous retail or customer service experience, ideally within hardware, trade, or home improvement.
• A passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences and building rapport with customers.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• A willingness to learn new products, systems, and processes.
• A collaborative approach and the flexibility to support different areas of the store.
• Initiative, accountability, and a positive attitude.
• Confidence using computer systems and handheld devices.
• A strong commitment to Health & Safety and store standards.

Responsibilities

• Delivering exceptional customer service by providing product advice, tailored solutions, and helping customers complete their projects.
• Maintaining department presentation, merchandising standards, pricing accuracy, ticketing, and promotional displays.
• Ensuring stock availability through replenishment, stock top-ups, and retrieving products from reserve stock.
• Assisting customers by using store systems and devices to check product availability, locations, pricing, and suitable alternatives.
• Supporting sales growth by identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell complementary products and services.
• Assisting with price changes, markdowns, stock movements, and maintaining accurate department standards.
• Working collaboratively with other departments to provide support during busy trading periods and operational requirements.
• Providing assistance at checkouts and supporting front-end operations when required.
• Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety by identifying hazards, following safe work practices, and ensuring the department remains clean, organised, and safe.
• Completing required training and continually developing product knowledge across Power Tools & Hardware, and wider store ranges.
• Supporting other departments as required to meet operational needs.

The following positions are available:

• 1 x Part-time 8 hours per week permanent position working Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm.
• 1 x Part-time 8 hours per week permanent position working Saturday 8:00am - 4:30pm.
