Job summary

Hōhepa Hawke’s Bay is seeking a dedicated team leader to supervise a small group of Support Workers within our community houses. You will work closely with the House Manager to support adults with intellectual disabilities and help them achieve their goals.

Strong leadership, communication, and empathy are essential, as is maintaining confidential records. This role offers a pathway toward a House Manager position, with mentoring from the House Manager and Service Manager.

Weare currently looking for team leaders to join our adult services.This is a role in our houses based in the community you work with the House Managerto lead a small team of Support Workers. You will be working alongsidepeople with intellectual disabilities with the belief that they can do anythingand can learn to be able and independent. This role would be well suited forthose wanting to progress in their career towards a House Manager, you will besupported by your House Manager and Service Manager in achieving your goals.

Tobe successful in this role you will:

• Have the abilities to both display empathy and respectand enable people to achieve their goals and plans
• Have strong leadership skills, able to manage a smallteam with oversight from the House Manager
• Have good communication skills, be able to communicateclearly and appropriately with a range of people, and be able to maintainaccurate records and progress notes.
• Be trustworthy and have high ethical standards, and beable to respect confidentiality and privacy.
• Have a mature attitude and good interpersonal skills;this includes being practical and 'down to earth' about the nature of therole, and being able to work with people who may have high support needsand challenging behaviour without becoming flustered.
• Have relevant experience or qualifications.
• Be fit for the physical and emotional aspects of therole.
