Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior environmental planning leader in Wellington to lead and develop a high-performing team of environmental planning professionals, provide strategic leadership, and influence planning outcomes across a diverse transport portfolio.

You will collaborate with iwi, local authorities and government agencies, navigate complex statutory processes, and represent NZTA in regional and national forums, while embedding planning excellence from early development through delivery

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Extensive experience in environmental/resource management planning or related statutory processes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience influencing complex programmes and delivering pragmatic outcomes.
• Knowledge of planning legislation, policy and transport-related decision-making processes.
• Legal right to live and work in New Zealand
• Willingness to build understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
