Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system. Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid - the high-voltage network that moves electricity from where it is generated to the distributors and lines companies who take it to towns, cities, homes, hospitals, and businesses across the country. Our Grid Development division of ~ 200 engineering, technical and economic specialists based primarily in Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch, looks ahead to understand what New Zealand’s electricity network needs will be over the next 20 to 30 years. The team considers things like growing electricity demand, new generation, how the existing Grid can meet that need and what needs to change to remain reliable and fit for the future. It is thoughtful, long-term work that helps shape investment and infrastructure decisions for Aotearoa.

Aotearoa is powered by the people who work here. This is your opportunity to join us on a mission that affects all New Zealanders every day and will for generations to come. With over 28 nationalities, our people bring diverse perspectives, knowledge, and experience which they love to share.
