Job summary

Kenakena School on the Kapiti Coast seeks a competent NZ registered teacher for a full-time fixed-term role in 2027. The successful applicant will join the Years 7&8 Teaching Team for a broad curriculum across English, Maths, Science and the Arts.

Start date is 2 February 2027 with an end date of 16 December 2027 (Travel Leave). Experience teaching at Upper Primary, and a willingness to contribute to sports programmes, would be valuable.

Qualifications

• NZ registered teacher with current practising certificate.
• Experience across Years 1–8 curriculum strongly preferred.
• Ability to deliver core subjects and adapt to school needs.

Responsibilities

• Teach primary/intermediate students in Years 7–8 within the teaching team.
• Deliver a broad curriculum including DMIC Maths where possible.
• Assist with sports programme management and school activities.

Due to a teacher being on overseas leave, a full-time fixed-term position is available in our Years 7&8 Teaching Team for the 2027 school year.

Ideally, we are looking for an experienced New Zealand registered teacher confident at this level with all-round curriculum skills.

The ability to deliver the DMIC Maths programme and experience in sports programme management would be an advantage. This may be an ideal opportunity for a teacher returning from overseas, someone looking to move to the beautiful Kapiti Coast, or someone looking to gain experience in a Full Primary.
