Job summary

Kenakena School in Wellington is seeking a dedicated teacher for Years 1–4 for a full-time fixed-term appointment starting February 2027. The role emphasises modern, researched-based pedagogy and a play-based learning environment within a Years 1–8 framework.

The successful applicant will have experience with a Structured Literacy Approach and DMIC Mathematics, with a bonus for Te Reo Māori integration across the curriculum. This position is for a fixed-term period of one year.

Qualifications

• Experience in a play-based learning environment.
• Experience implementing a Structured Literacy Approach.
• Experience with the DMIC approach to Mathematics.
• Ability to integrate Te Reo and Tikanga Māori across the curriculum would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Teach English, Mathematics and Statistics for Years 1–4 (Sector Years 1–8).

Job description

Full-time fixed-term (1 Year) teaching position in the Years 1-4 area from February2027.

Due to a combination of long-term leave, and school-supported staffing.

It is expected all applicants can confidently deliver modern researched-based Pedagogy.

Applicants in the Years 1-4 area must have experience in a play-based learning environment and in the implementation of a Structured Literacy Approach. Applicants with a Years 3-4 area preference would benefit from having experience in the DMIC approach to Mathematics.

The ability to integrate Te Reo and Tikanga Māori across the curriculum would be an advantage for this position.
