Ngata Memorial College in a rural East Coast town two hours north of Gisborne invites an enthusiastic English teacher to join our Year 1–13 Area School, delivering NCEA English with flexibility to teach a second subject.

We are seeking an enthusiastic teacher of English NCEA for our well-resourced Year 1-13 Area School. We are in a rural town situated in the beautiful East Coast, two hours north of Gisborne.

Ngata Memorial College isa long-established school located in the heart of Ngati Porou, Ruatoria. All the students affiliate to the iwi which provides strong contexts for learning. Our school has a supportive family-like atmosphere. We have small class sizes and strong resourcing. School housing may be available at a subsidised rate. Our school has just over 80 students aged 5-18 years.

Our coast is famous for its relatively easy access to the sea and bush allowing a range of recreational activities. We are excited at the opportunity to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and caring teacher with great interpersonal and teaching skills to teach in our school. The successful applicant must be passionate about children, lifting their learning achievement and enhancing their well-being.

Being an area school flexibility and the ability to teach a second subject would be very beneficial.

Our teachers receive both the Isolation and the High Priority Teacher Supply Allowances. A management unit may be available for a suitable candidate and there is a possibility of bonding.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by Area Schools’ Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $64,119 to $107,886, depending on applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed. And there are allowances on top for isolation and being a High Priority school.
