Job summary

Matamata College in Waikato invites applications from a Certificated teacher with a strong background in timber, joinery or cabinet making to join our Technology team. The successful candidate will teach Secondary Hard Materials to NCEA Level 3, lead practical woodworking in our workshop, and promote health and safety practices.

Matamata College is a Year 9-13 state secondary school in Matamata, Waikato. We have a proud history of student achievement since 1918. We are looking for an engaging and culturally responsive teacher with a strong knowledge of joinery and/or construction industry experience to join our passionate Technology team. The successful applicant will be able to teach senior Hard Materials to NCEA Level 3.

The successful applicant must be skilled in working with timber, comfortable in a workshop environment and be aware of relevant health and safety practices. Our priority is to appoint someone with genuine, hands‑on woodworking expertise. Applicants should have proven experience in carpentry, joinery, cabinet making, or a closely related field. Trades experience would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
