Job summary

Westlake Boys High School in Auckland, North Island, is seeking a certified teacher to inspire reading, learning and engagement while leading our school library as Teacher Librarian. January 2027 start.

This role focuses on developing literacy, inquiry and research across the school, working with students and staff to make the library a welcoming hub for learning inside and beyond the classroom, empowering learners to explore, read and inquire with confidence.

Qualifications

• Must be NZ registered and have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
• Fully conversant with the NZ Curriculum.
• Experience in school libraries or literacy programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the school library as a literacy hub within the school.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy across the curriculum.
• Support student reading engagement and inquiry-based learning through programs and services.

Working closely with students and staff, the Teacher Librarian is a unique role that supports learning both within and beyond the classroom whilst also ensuring our school library is a welcoming and engaging hub for literacy, inquiry and research.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teacher's Collective Agreement (STCA)Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement(2025–2027) The base salary for trained and registered teachers currently ranges from NZD64,119 to NZD107,886.00, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by asalary assessment by Education Payrollonce a role is confirmed.
