Job summary

Waitaki Boys’ High School in Otago seeks a Certificated teacher to lead the agriculture programme within the comprehensive science curriculum. The role is in charge of the agriculture area and may include accommodation for the successful applicant.

This is a full-time, permanent position commencing Term 1, 2027. The school offers a 40-acre Fraser Farm to support the curriculum, strong ties with local agricultural businesses, and a purpose-built agriculture classroom.

Qualifications

• Experience in agriculture teaching desirable.
• Ability to lead and contribute to co-curricular programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the agriculture programme for Years 9–13.
• Manage the agriculture curriculum and resources including Fraser Farm activities.

We are seeking a teacher in charge - agriculture. This position could suit a first-year teacher and accommodation may also be available. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing Term 1, 2027.

This is an incredibly unique opportunity. At Waitaki Boys’ we offer a comprehensive agriculture curriculum from Years 9 to 13. This includes both practical and agricultural science in the senior school. We also have a 40-acre working sheep farm called Fraser Farm, which is run by old boys to support our agriculture curriculum. Along with this, a new purpose-built agriculture classroom is operational. The school works very closely with local agricultural businesses and support groups.

The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher who is able to endorse the school’s academic focus and be involved in the strong co-curricular programmes the school offers.
