Job summary

Northern Health School invites applications from experienced teachers who are fully registered and confident to teach across a broad range of subjects within the New Zealand curriculum. Senior health-school experience is an added advantage, and Te Reo Māori or local iwi connections are valued.

Permanent, full-time positions provide opportunities to teach Years 1–13, with management units and allowances for dedicated staff.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced secondary teacher confident to teach years 1 -13 across a range of subject areas. Full registration and recent experience teaching the New Zealand curriculum required. Ability to speak Te Reo Māori and/or local iwi connections will be highly regarded as would experience teaching senior science subjects.

We invite applications from experienced and fully registered teachers with strong knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum. We are looking for experience teaching at different year levels and a willingness to teach other year levels across a range of subject areas. Previous health school teaching experience an advantage. Ability to speak Te Reo Māori and/or local iwi or Tangata Pasifika connections valued but not essential.

Permanent teachers at Northern Health School are eligible for a health school management unit, a special duties allowance and a high-priority teachers' allowance.

We are a Ministry of Education funded school. Weprovide education and transition support for Year 0-14 students whose health impacts their ability to attend school fulltime.

School management and administration is predominantly based in Auckland with school units in centres throughout the north island from Kaitaia to Gisborne, Taupo and Taranaki. Teachers work with students across a spectrum of years and subjects on either an individual basis or in small groups. Depending on the health and education needs of the student, a teacher may provide the whole education programme; an education programme in association with the student's regular school or a programme in association with Te Aho O Te Kura Pounamu (The Correspondence School).
