Te Kura Tuarua o Taraika ki Pukeahu (WHS) in Wellington, NZ is seeking a suitably qualified Teacher Aide to join He Kākanoteam. The role is 28 hours per week during term time, exclusive of annual leave, supporting an ORS funded student in mainstream classes and working towards goals defined in the HCN plan and IEP.

Start date anticipated 12 October 2026, subject to police vetting and return. The position may involve supervision at break times and one-to-one care for students requiring assistance

Responsibilities

• Support an ORS funded student in mainstream classes, working toward goals in the HCN plan and IEP.
• Provide supervision at breaktimes and one-to-one care for feeding and toileting as required.
• Work across a range of subjects in He Kākanoteam and mainstream classes.

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Teacher Aide to join ourHe Kākanoteam. The position is for 28 hours per week, term time only exclusive of annual leave. The successful candidate will be supporting an ORS funded student in mainstream classes, working towards specific goals defined in the student's HCN plan and IEP. Start date anticipated 12 October 2026, to be determined dependent on the successful return of a police vetting check.

This role involves working with students with complex intellectual and behavioural needs to work in He Kākano and in the mainstream across a range of subjects. In addition the applicant may provide supervision at breaktimes plus one-to-one care for individual students who require assistance with feeding and toileting.

This position will suit someone with experience of working with students who have intellectual and behavioural needs. Patience, resilience, adaptability and a willingness to learn are important qualities. Experience of working with students with autistic spectrum conditions is desirable.

This is a fixed-term, part-time position for Term 4 2026.
