Job summary

Titiro Whakamua Teen Parent Unit in Upper Hutt is seeking a permanent full‑time Certificated teacher to join our team. The role covers Secondary (Years 7–15) and Te reo Māori, with a focus on delivering NCEA levels 1 and 2 and using embedded IT in teaching.

You will support students who are pregnant or young mothers (ages 14–22), promote PB4L restorative practices, and work within the Heretaunga College facilities to deliver a high‑quality holistic programme for teen parents and their tamariki.

Qualifications

• Must hold NZ practising certificate.
• Experience teaching the NZ Curriculum essential.
• Ability to teach NCEA levels 1 and 2.

We are excited to offer a permanent full time teaching position at the Titiro Whakamua Teen Parent Unit in Upper Hutt. Titiro Whakamua is an attached unit of Heretaunga College and shares onsite building facilities with a Kindergarten managed by the Hutt City Kindergarten Association. Titiro Whakamua serves the wider Hutt Valley region and is funded for 35 ākonga and the Kindergarten serves the tamariki of the Titiro Whakamua ākonga and the surrounding community.

We are seeking an adaptable, enthusiastic and motivated teacher for a rewarding role, supporting students who are either pregnant or are young mothers. Our students range from ages 14 to 22.

We provide a high-quality holistic programme for our teen parents and their tamariki. The ideal candidate will be well-qualified, have excellent classroom management skills and embedded IT in their teaching practice along with the ability to teach NCEA, in particular levels 1 and 2.

The successful applicant will be passionate about working with teenage parents. They will have a knowledge of PB4L restorative practices and be highly responsive to student learning needs in line with established practices at Heretaunga College.
