Job summary

Woodford House in Hawke's Bay seeks a Kaiako Māori to deliver te reo Māori across Year 7–13, covering parental leave. This fixed-term, part-time role (0.5 FTTE) offers an opportunity to contribute to our culturally rich curriculum and support Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the school community.

You will be registered with the Teaching Council, or eligible to obtain registration, and hold a relevant teaching qualification.

Qualifications

  • Must hold registration with the Teaching Council of New Zealand or be eligible to obtain it.
  • Relevant teaching qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of te ao Māori and te reo Māori.
  • Ability to engage in cultural activities (e.g. Mihi Whakatau, Pōwhiri, Kaupapa Māori) and understanding of Māori values, culture and tikanga.
  • Willingness to support future-focused learning goals.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Woodford House Special Character.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver te reo Māori classes from Year 7–13 to cover parental leave.
  • Support cultural competency and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the school.
  • Engage with students and kaimahi to foster a nurturing learning environment.
