Whakaata Māori, Aotearoa New Zealand’s indigenous national broadcaster, seeks an experienced Tātai Whetū Change & Capability Lead to guide a major transformation. You will lead change, readiness and capability uplift across governance, programme management and workstreams, delivering sustainable, kaupapa Māori-aligned transformation.

With a 12-month fixed-term role, you will shape operating models, stakeholder engagement and learning frameworks to ensure successful adoption and benefits

Qualifications

• 7+ years’ experience leading organisational change and capability uplift.
• Experience developing change management approaches and organisation design.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and collaboration tools.
• Commitment to developing te reo Māori capability.

We are seeking an experienced Tātai Whetū Change & Capability Lead to join our Tari Kaihautū ranga and help guide Whakaata Māori through a significant programme of organisational transformation. Tātai Whetū reflects the guidance of the stars, helping chart a course toward a shared future. In this role, you will lead organisational change, readiness and capability uplift activities that ensure Whakaata Māori is prepared to successfully implement, adopt and sustain strategic priorities.

You will work across the organisation to assess change impacts, strengthen workforce capability, support leaders through change, and help shape future ways of working. This role acts as a connector between governance, programme management, workstreams and people change, ensuring transformation is delivered in a kaupapa Māori‑aligned and sustainable way.

This is a 12-month fixed term role supporting the delivery of the Tātai Whetū programme and the future success of Whakaata Māori.

Develop change strategies, impact assessments, readiness frameworks and stakeholder engagement approaches.

Support leaders to understand and manage change implications within their ranga.

Lead organisation design activities including future operating models, roles and responsibilities.

Identify workforce capability requirements and develop capability frameworks and learning approaches.

Monitor organisational readiness and elevate implementation risks.

Support transition activities and post‑implementation embedding.

Develop change measures and support benefits realisation activities.

Provide reporting and insights to governance forums and programme leadership.

Uphold kaupapa Māori values and contribute positively to Whakaata Māori’s culture and strategic intent.

Tertiary qualification in a related discipline.

7+ years’ experience leading organisational change, transformation, workforce capability or organisational development.

Experience developing and implementing change management approaches.

Experience supporting organisation design, operating model or workforce change initiatives.

Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills.

Strategic and systems thinking capability.

Strong written communication skills, including change plans, reports and governance papers.

Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and collaboration tools.

Commitment to developing te reo Māori capability.
