Job summary

Southern Cross Horticulture is seeking a Survey Technician to join our Construction team in New Zealand. You'll carry out land and orchard surveys, support CAD design, and work closely with internal and external teams.

This role blends fieldwork with design, including GPS, drone data capture, and a focus on accuracy, health and safety, and timely documentation. A full NZ Driver license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a surveying related role.
• Confidence with GPS equipment, CAD software, and drone piloting.
• Experience with Trimble equipment or software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• A valid Full New Zealand Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out land and orchard level surveys, including GPS-based fieldwork
• Operating drones to capture site data and support mapping and progress monitoring
• Working out gradients and levels to support orchard construction and design
• Contributing to CAD design work for orchard layouts and infrastructure
• Liaising and maintaining a strong working relationship with our outsourced licensed surveying provider
• Maintaining accurate records of survey data, drawings and site information
• Complying with health and safety protocols, including site check-ins and risk and incident reporting
• Wearing appropriate PPE and following all orchard and site rules and regulations

We're now looking for a Survey Technician to join our Construction team and support the surveying and design work behind our orchard developments.

You’ll carry out land and orchard level surveys, work out gradients, contribute to CAD design, and build a strong working relationship with our internal and external teams. This isn't licensed survey work, but it's a great fit for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork and design and takes pride in getting the groundwork right.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for people who take pride in accurate, detail-focused work and enjoy a mix of fieldwork and design. Your background will ideally have:

• Experience in a surveying related role with the ability to get stuck in from day 1
• Confidence with GPS equipment, CAD software, and drone piloting (or willingness to learn)
• Experience with Trimble equipment or software is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• A positive mindset, living above the line
• A valid Full New Zealand Driver License
