Job summary

Jora New Zealand seeks a Surfacing Supervisor to lead regional crews, programme workflows, and maintain high safety and quality standards. You will partner with the Operations and Delivery teams to optimise resources and deliver programmes of work with excellent customer relations.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will drive Zero Harm, monitor QA processes and audits, and coordinate plant and people for efficient utilisation, drawing on a strong background in surfacing/sealing operations

Qualifications

• Experience leading surfacing crews in roading or civil construction.
• Strong planning and communication skills with a safety-first approach.
• Knowledge of surfacing specifications, QA procedures and audits.
• Background in surfacing/sealing operations is essential.
• Proven ability to coordinate resources and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and mentor surfacing crews to ensure high performance.
• Oversee day-to-day surfacing operations, including stockpiling, QA and audits.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to programme and execute workflows.
• Ensure QA documentation, ITPs and as-builts are accurate.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and identify opportunities.
• Drive Zero Harm by promoting safe, responsible behaviour and compliance.
• Coordinate plant, people and resources for optimal utilisation.
• Show strong background in surfacing/sealing operations.
• Demonstrate experience supervising roading or civil construction teams.
• Apply knowledge of surfacing specifications and QA procedures.
• Utilise planning and organisational skills; communicate clearly.
• Maintain computer literacy to track and report performance.

As our Surfacing Supervisor, you’ll plan, organise and lead our regional surfacing crew to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll work closely with our Operations Manager and Delivery Manager to deliver programmes of work, optimise resources, and maintain strong customer relationships.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will drive quality, productivity and Zero Harm performance across your team.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, support and mentor surfacing crews, ensuring strong team culture and high performance.
• Oversee day-to-day surfacing operations, including chip stockpiling, QA processes, and audits.
• Work with delivery teams to programme and execute workflows effectively.
• Ensure all QA documentation, ITPs and as-builts are completed accurately.
• Maintain excellent customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Drive Zero Harm by promoting safe, responsible behaviour and ensuring compliance.
• Coordinate plant, people and resources for optimal utilisation.
• A strong background in surfacing/sealing operations.
• Proven experience supervising teams in roading or civil construction.

• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
