Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking skilled Support Workers in New Zealand to provide safe, respectful, and person-centred in-home care. You’ll assist with daily living activities, manage medications, and adapt to each client’s culture, values and routines.

Training is provided during the first weeks, with ongoing refreshers and clear development pathways. Roles offer flexible hours, weekend allowances, and a dedicated career path for Kaiāwhina | Support Workers.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 or Level 4 Health & Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experience using a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Willingness to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Experience in caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people-facing roles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license

You will provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred support in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.

Whakangungu | Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With the added bonus of year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date. You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

Mōhou Ake | About You

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to.

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds

Some client needs require Support Workers who hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification to ensure safe and appropriate care.
